At one time the Plantation contained 20 two room cabins of this type used by tenant farmers. One still stands, and it's worth a visit. The cabin has a fireplace with openings inside the house to provide heat and outside the house for cooking. Each room has windows and a tin roof covers the rooms and a large front porch, where families spent lots of time during the hotter parts of the year.
